This is another lamentation of a teacher..
One semester passed..... It is now time to reflect on what had transpired then: was I able to imbibe not only knowledge but inspiration to my students? Did I make any difference in the way they view Philippine politics or life in general? Or was I one of the many alienated and mediocre educators who had wished nothing but for the semester to end?
I see students come and go..... Will it be possible for even one of these students scurrying in the four corners of the university to remember what they heard, learned, read, in the class? But what is far more important is will even one of these kids practice what they heard, learned or read in the course?
Another semester is here..... I will be looking through passive eyes of young people who are hungry and thirsty for fresh and awe-inspiring ideas.... Similar words will be passing my lips yet will they be unheard or digested by my students..... Yawns and drooping eyes will be surely present; recurring absences and delayed papers; unread articles and unanswered recitation questions...... Yes, they will be the very same challenges I will be encountering as another semester is here....
In spite of it all, my passion is still intact to do what I must do..... to teach, to make even the tiniest bit of difference and to hope that I can inspire even one or two students so they can make a change in their lives, in their family and in the nation.
